Rev Phil Singleton

Associate Minister

Rev. Phillip Singleton is a native of Chicago, IL. He is the son of the late Leon and

Dessie Singleton. He is one of nine siblings and has been married to Brenda for 36

years. He was nurtured and taught in the Public Schools of Chicago and the Sunday

School of the Progressive MB Church. He has a Bachelors of Science in Electrical

Engineering from Illinois Tech (Chicago, IL); an MBA in Information Systems from

Georgia State (Atlanta, GA); and an MDIV in Biblical Counseling from Southeastern

Baptist Seminary (Wake Forest, NC (December 2019).


Rev. Singleton has traveled both domestically and Internationally to Asia while

working as a Network Engineer, IT Auditor, and CyberSecurity Program Manager for

nearly 30 years. Most recently he has worked as a Chaplain Intern at the Duke

Raleigh Hospital and as a Chaplain Resident at the New Hanover Regional Medical

Center in Wilmington, NC. In these roles, he has enjoyed providing pastoral care and

presence to patients, families, and staff in various clinical areas including the ER,

ICU, Neonatal ICU, and Mother-Baby units. He current serves as a Chaplain at Duke

Regional Hospital and ministers at the intersection of Faith Responses and

Sanctification, Suffering, Loss, and Life Transitions.


Rev. Singleton was licensed as a minister of the Gospel in March, 2019. He serves

First Baptist Church as a teacher in the Laura P. Wimberley Sunday School class and

member of the FBC Laymen's League. He is a Notary Public (NC) and holds a patent

in Security Compliance with the US Patent Office. His guiding ministry Scripture is

Proverbs 4:23 "Guard your heart, for out of it flows the issues of life."
