Acts 4:23-31
“More Than a Sunday Thing”
Sermon in a Sentence:
The Church is more than a weekly gathering; it is a praying community that responds to pressure with unity and Spirit-given power.
Weekly Applications:
1. Examine Where You Run Under Pressure
When Peter and John were released, they didn’t isolate. They didn’t strategize privately. They didn’t vent online. They went to their people.
This week, pay attention to your reflex when pressure hits. Do you withdraw? Do you distract yourself? Do you complain?
Instead, intentionally bring one real burden to a trusted believer and invite prayer.
Growth begins when we stop suffering silently and start suffering in community.

2. Pray Scripture Into Your Reality
Notice what the church does in Acts 4. They don’t pray vague comfort. They quote Psalm 2. They interpret their situation through God’s Word. Then they ask for boldness.
This week, when something unsettles you, find a Scripture that speaks to it. Pray it back to God.
Not, “Lord, remove this,” but
“Lord, how does Your Word interpret this?”
Move from emotional reaction to biblical response.
⸻
3. Become the Kind of Community People Run To
Peter and John ran back because they expected something to happen when they arrived.
Ask yourself:
If someone in this church were threatened, discouraged, or attacked for their faith — would they instinctively run to you?
This week, take one step toward becoming that kind of believer:
• Initiate prayer without being asked
• Follow up on someone’s struggle
• Show up where support is needed
• Join corporate prayer with urgency
